Clouds Rest

The Clouds Rest vineyard is situated at a lofty 1250' on Sonoma Mountain in the heart of the Sonoma Coast appellation. Planted in unique volcanic soil on the rocky hillsides, our grapes ripen with warm days and cool evening ocean breezes that when combined create the unique alluring terroir of Clouds Rest Pinot Noir. This is the most intensely planted vineyard in the Sonoma Coast Ava and the most difficult and expensive to farm. 100% of our farming is done by hand. We have 10,000+ vines planted high density 36" x 36" of the finest pinot noir clones selected block by block to ripen together creating the consistent, rich and seductive flavors of our wine. Struggle is the name of the game in producing the finest pinot noir.

2006 Clouds Rest “Limited Release” Pinot Noir

"Medium cherry-red color. Sweet, balanced pinot fruit, spice & earthy nose. Red cherry, strawberry, apricot, mushroom & caramel flavors. This is the most flexible of the Clouds Rest Limited Release Pinot Noir wines and will match with a wide range of food dishes. Pair with anything of moderate intensity. The most attractive wine for drinking today and in the short to mid-term. Very polished." Steve Morey, Master Sommelier (4/18/12) SCORE: 95 Pinot Report

2008 Clouds Rest “femme fatale” Pinot Noir

"Femme Fatale" is seduction by pinot noir. Fragrant and inviting with ripe cherry & plum. Flavors of cola and just hints of cedar and vanilla. Great minerality & structure. She has a California body with a Burgundy soul!

Intoxicating essence of forest floor and cherries on the nose mesh evocatively with wild mushroom, cherry cola, licorice and smoky notes that burst out with a kaliedoscope of flavors on the palate. Oh so elegant and impeccably balanced with bright acidity, silky tannins and a memorable finish which further enhances this surperb package.

2009 Clouds Rest Sauvignon Blanc

This is a delicate Sauvignon Blanc Musque from the magic of Dutton Ranch Vineyard. This wine is direct press to a stainless steel tank, inoculation with Assmannhausen yeast, and to barrel for 9 months just after fermentation begins. Barrel fermentation yields texture, complexity and development of varietal presence, the barrels used are seasoned to not impact the purity of varietal expression, and mature the wine with balance being the ultimate goal.
